(MEGO) AQUAMAN : 50th Anniversary World's Greatest Superheroes
I've been playing with MEGO since the 1970s, collecting MEGO since the 1990s (sadly that collection is gone) and trying to keep up with their new lines. I can say I'm %100 satisfied with the 50th WGSH line! AQUAMAN has always been a favorite of mine, but this version is easily in my top 10 figures ever made!
The box is basically perfect, and an astounding achievement for modern retro packaging. Even though I'm a collector, I'm not a big fan of ultra heavy duty reproductions of classic packaging, nor do I like it if it's too cheap and flimsy, these are amazingly close to the originals in every regard, and I'm impressed! Not an easy feat when it comes to me and modern toys.
I would say I hope other companies take notes and do the same, but that's not true. They made their beds and can lay in them. Mego actually seems to kind of.......well.....care about the people who buy their product, and that's really something not to be ignored.
The figure was a little stiff, but being factory fresh there's nothing wrong with that whatsoever. Originally skeptical of the new bandless body, I'm happy to say I'm a convert! I'm sold on the new body! The limbs were all fine, nothing felt stressed, nothing broke, paint apps on the face are pefect, there's really nothing negative to say whatsoever.
And the clothing work is just off the chart! A little thinner than the original fabric (which is probably no longer produced) but good quaity and fits just perfect! I'm EXTREMELY Impressed with these!
A couple Christmas's ago I had purchased the first couple of waves of heroes and villains for my nephews and heard from their Dad that they absolutely loved them and play with them constantly! But, this was my first one getting for myself. It's taken awhile after some rough years, but I'm trying to get back in the game, and man is this figure an inspiration for that!
